We realize how much time expecting mothers spend on preparing themselves for labour and birth that they completely forget to prepare for postpartum. As a new Mom, you may not realize how much your body will be affected by labour and delivery. Labour is hard work and a recovering new Moms body will need time to heal, rest & recover.

We want to encourage recovery and healing during the postpartum period as much as we can, so we thought we would share a simple and easy DIY Sitz bath kit for Moms to put together before the birth of their baby. It doesn’t have to be complicated and actually the more simple we keep the ingredients, the better! So see below for our quick and easy directions to creating your own wonderful oasis in your bathtub.

Simple DIY Postpartum Bath

A sitz bath can reduce inflammation and discomfort caused by perineal and vaginal lacerations after a vaginal childbirth. Sitz baths also have  additional benefits of promoting blood flow to the genital area  as well, reducing hemorrhoids and did we mention the mental component? Having a sitz bath once a day is physically healing but is also emotionally healing as well. It is ok to give yourself a break and  relax for a bit in the tub. We know how little sleep you may be getting at this time in your life, so any moment you can take to relax, we say yes!!
